To address the increasing use of agricultural pesticides in Myanmar, reduce foreign currency expenditure, and promote domestic technological development, the largest pesticide formulation plant in Southeast Asia, The Hmawbi Agricultural Inputs Complex (HAIC), was established. It was built with financial support from the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group).
To address the financial hardships and cultivation cost challenges faced by farmers in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis, the Maha Agriculture Microfinance Institution was established.
